Hello, my name is Leonie Sutherland.

This website is dedicated to an adventure which has been two years in the making. It will take me on an around the world yacht race, and will allow me to fundraise for a truly wonderful cause, The Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Clipper Round the World Challenge is a 40,000 mile sailing race crossing the globe. This is a once in a life time experience and a great opportunity to help a deserving charity.

Events such as this are crucial in raising awareness as well as much needed funds to help in the diagnosis, research and treatment of cancer.

My decision to raise money for this charity was driven by the news that one of my school friends had contracted cancer. His strength of character inspired me, and his battle encouraged me to follow my dream and make fundraising for the Teenage Cancer Trust the focus of my attempt.

I would like to say that I will be setting sail to conquer the high seas, but, as Sir Robin Knox-Johnston so eloquently puts it, "You will never conquer the sea, but you can learn to cope with it."

During the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in 2012, I intend to push myself to the limit, and in doing so, cope with the high seas.
